Julie Orris, PsyD

Dr. Orris is a licensed clinical psychologist and the executive director at Evidence Based Therapy Orange County. In addition to her role as a clinician and administrator, Dr. Orris provides regular consultation, supervision and training to students and professionals both inside the agency and in the larger community. Dr. Orris is a clinical faculty member at University of California, Irvine and a regular lecturer at University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. Dr. Orris is also consultant/trainer in the Los Angeles County DBT Roll Out (LACRO-DBT).

Dr. Orris is trained in a number of evidence-based treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Dr. Orris has over 15 years of clinical experience and is skilled in treating a wide range of presenting problems. Her clinical specializations include parenting, self -injury, suicidal thinking and behavior, emotion dysregulation, post -traumatic stress, borderline personality disorder, and eating disorders. 

Dr. Orris received her Masters in Social Work (MSW) from Boston college, where she was trained in trauma specific interventions. She spent the next several years working in residential treatment for adolescents and adults with self-harming and suicidal behavior, eating disorders, and posttraumatic stress. Dr. Orris earned her PsyD in 2010, with a research focus on human trafficking in India.  Dr. Orris completed psychological externships in Neuropsychology at UCI (pediatric) and UCLA (adult). Dr. Orris completed an APA-accredited internship and two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Casa Pacifica, a residential treatment center for adolescents. During that time, Dr. Orris developed and implemented the Dialectical Behavior Therapy program and trained clinical and program staff in this modality. Prior to opening Evidence Based Therapy Orange County, Dr. Orris was the clinical director at a large group CBT and DBT practice.
