“I simply can't build my hopes on a foundation of confusion, misery and death... I think... peace and tranquillity will return again.”

—Anne Frank

Suicidal Behaviors

On average, there are 130 suicides per day in the United States. In 2019, 1.38 million people attempted suicide.

When the demands of life outstrip our coping abilities, or misery persists for long periods of time, many humans contemplate suicide.

Suicidal thinking and behavior are more common in those with mental health conditions such as borderline personality disorder and depression.

Reach Out

If you, or someone you know, has suicidal thoughts, it is important to seek treatment immediately. These conditions are treatable and you have every reason to hope that with the right help, people can learn to cope, can overcome obstacles, can think differently, can have meaningful relationships, and can build a life worth living.

“We must not see any person as an abstraction. Instead, we must see in every person a universe with its own secrets, with its own treasures, with its own sources of anguish, and with some measure of triumph.”

—Elie Wiesel
